Our Inclusive Approach: Language Support

At ISM, we warmly welcome students from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. To ensure a smooth transition into school life, we assess each student’s English proficiency upon arrival and provide personalised support tailored to their individual needs.

Students who are developing their English skills receive targeted assistance in small groups and within the classroom, helping them build confidence, improve communication and fully engage with the curriculum. Our goal is not only to support language acquisition but also to ensure that every student feels included, understood and able to participate actively in school life.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support

At ISM, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, feel confident and reach their full potential. Our inclusive approach ensures that students with additional learning needs receive personalised support tailored to their individual strengths, challenges and goals.

We work closely with families, teachers and, when appropriate, external specialists to create supportive learning pathways that help each student thrive academically, socially and emotionally. What is the SEN department?

The SEN (Special Educational Needs) department supports students who may require additional help to access learning, develop key skills or overcome barriers to their educational progress. Our role is to work collaboratively with families and teachers to ensure every student receives the support they need to flourish both in and out of the classroom.

Sensory support

We recognise that every child learns differently and that emotional wellbeing plays a vital role in learning and development. Our sensory support provision offers calm, structured spaces where students can regulate their emotions, manage sensory needs and regain focus when they feel overwhelmed or require additional support. These spaces form part of our inclusive approach to education, helping students build self-awareness, resilience and confidence while ensuring they feel safe, understood and ready to engage positively with school life.
